The online fabrication portal Sheetmetalworld.com today announced a new online directory and events database, along with a complete redesign of the existing site’s features.
Since 2000 Sheetmetalworld.com has provided sheet metal fabrication users with news, tutorials, an online directory, list of forthcoming exhibitions and other features in the worldwide sheet metal manufacturing industry. After undergoing a significant overhaul to core functionality the site now offers users a number of free and enhanced services:
Free vendors directory: Any company that manufactures equipment or provides services to the sheet metal industry (covering 100 categories from CNC machine tools, education, factory furniture and subcontract services through to consumables, spares, professional services, plant hire and safety equipment) can list their company for free. Previously companies were charged to include links to their website but this is now free. Vendors can purchase a ‘Featured’ listing for £29 per year, which will list them at the top of their category.
Enhanced Exhibitions listings: In addition to much more information listed against each exhibition, visitors can now view details on each venue, and even see lists of exhibitions per venue.
Enhanced tutorials: Sheetmetalworld.com now includes IT tutorials along with the existing sheet metal fabrication tutorials
New calculators: A range of engineering and scientific calculators have been added to give engineers a single online resource, covering conversion such as temperature, tap drill calculations, electrical costs and a full scientific calculator.
Downloads section: A list of free or shareware applications relevant to fabrication.
Trade Associations and magazines: The enhanced directory is also used to provide a detailed list of trade associations and manufacturing/engineering magazines around the world.
The site also aggregates news from various sources, also providing RSS feeds for much of its content, allowing users to check for new content either from their email/RSS software or from mobile devices without visiting the site directory.
