Eco Pickled Surface - EPS - is a new surface treatment for hot rolled sheet steel that removes the out oxide layer (mill scale) and renders the surface exceptionally clean and uniform in texture. EPS is a direct replacement for hydrochloric acid pickling of carbon, HSLA and stainless strip steel.
The process has been developed and patented by The Material Works, Ltd. of Illinois, USA, which supplies the equipment to steel mills, service centres and processors to perform EPS processing.
